Farida Mirza

Farida is a published childrens’ author.  Six of her books have been published by Oxford University Press.  Farida writes to empower children as well as support those who have an impact on children’s learning and well being.  She studied at St. George’s Grammar School, Hyderabad, India obtaining her high school certificate from Cambridge University, UK, Overseas Program. She continued her studies at Manchester University, UK, earning a degree in English, Sociology and Psychology.  Interest in the English language and technology led to her obtaining a Technical Writer Diploma from Algonquin College of Applied Arts & Technology, Ottawa, Canada.

Farida has taught English in the UK, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the US. She has worked as a technical writer in Canada and as an editor at Yahoo! Inc., Burbank, California. Her teaching experience spans all grade levels, from grades 2–12 and college.

The stories and poems Farida writes are driven by the desire to provide fun, comfort and motivation to children so they can strive to reach their potential. She writes occasionally for grown-ups.

Farida critiques children’s stories and works as a freelance writer and editor.  She does editorial work for Oxford University Press. She can be contacted for information about rates.
